Liturgy

A Typical Sunday

Posted in:

Sunday mornings typically consist of two services, an 8 a.m. spoken service, and a 10 a.m. service with music.

8 a.m. service

A said Eucharist using Rite I from The Book of Common Prayer. Limited music is provided by the organ and congregants. (Attendance averages about 30 parishioners.)

10 a.m. service

A sung Eucharist using elements from Enriching Our Worship, The Book of Common Prayer and other liturgical resources. Music is an integral part of the service and is woven throughout the service by our choirmaster, adult choir and pipe organ. The children's Treble Choir also contributes to the service at times. Children attend church school during the first half of the service and then join the congregation for the Eucharist. A nursery for children two and under is staffed by child care workers. (Average attendance: 190)

Sacrament of Healing

Every Sunday and the second Wednesday of every month, our clergy offers the Sacrament of Healing.

Taizé

At St. Mary’s, we worship several times a year in the Spirit of Taizé, including a New Year’s Eve Taize service.   read more »

Lay Readers/Chalice Bearers

Adult and Youth Lay Readers lead the congregation in meditating on scripture and in the prayers. Lay people also serve the chalice during communion. Deacon David Grauer leads this ministry.   read more »
