A Study of the Parables of Jesus| Led by the Reverend Bunny Hughes

Six Consecutive Wednesdays on Zoom: Wednesdays June 15, 22, 29
and July 6, 13, and 20 - 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.

Join the Reverend Bunny Hughes for six Wednesdays, beginning June 15, via Zoom, for an hour of lively and thoughtful discussion of several parables Jesus offered to his first disciples and to us as we discover their import for our faith today. There is no pre-reading or any expertise required and all are welcome.

In the first week, we will introduce ourselves to the parables: their structure, purpose, and invitation. In weeks 2-6, we will reflect on one parable per session, asking participants to find their place in the story and discerning the intent of Jesus in his telling it. We will interpret the parables with historical, literary, and humble understandings, and our questions will be more transforming than answers as we consider what the Bible meant then and what it means now. We apply St. Augustine's "rule of love" that all faithful interpretation of Scripture will promote love of God and neighbor.
