CCA Academy Annual Benefit
Parishioners and friends of CCA are reminded that March 1-31 will mark CCA’s Annual Benefit. Out of an abundance of caution, there will be no in-person event this year.
2023 celebrates CCA’s 45th year of serving at-risk youth in the North Lawndale neighborhood with a curriculum that uses urban agriculture, ecology and sustainability to build academic, green-technology, and college-readiness skills.
St. Mary’s has been a partner with CCA since it’s inception (funding a reading lab), and over the years has helped to fund a science lab, a native plants bioswale, hydroponics garden, bee hives, textbooks and novels for classes, a tutoring and mentorship program (currently on pause), and many other programs.
Current projects at CCA include partnering with The Art Institute of Chicago and Morton Arboretum to build a permaculture food forest to cover 6 city lots in the North Lawndale neighborhood, where local residents may enjoy green space, gardens, and seasonally obtain fresh fruit and vegetables.
Won’t you please partner with CCA by donating as generously as you can to support these efforts on the West Side? Checks can be mailed to:
