Programs for Children and Youth

Faith Formation for Children and Youth

What's Happening in Family Ministry – April

Atrium – age 3 to 1st grade
Our Atrium children will begin April with the presentation of the Liturgy of the Light, using a Pascal Candle. They will end the month with a presentation of the Altar, reviewing the items they have learned about like the chalice and the paten. Then we will introduce them to the tabernacle, ciborium, and sanctuary lamp.

Fisherman Class -
In April we will move from the story of Solomon's Temple to the time of Jesus and worship in the Synagogue. We will hear the words Jesus spoke from the gospel of Luke. A Synagogue model will show us how its structure might resemble Solomon's Temple.

Youth Group 6th -12th  grade
Prayers, Prayers, Prayers. The two Sundays we will meet, April 14th and April 21st, our youth will look at all different types of prayers. From what we say in church, compared to other faiths, and to how we can form our own prayers daily. We hope to complete our prayer loom and display it in May.

Nursery
Our nursery is open every Sunday at 10:00 A.M. for infants and children up to age 3. It is staffed year-round by a dedicated team of childcare providers. The room is located on our lower level near the dining hall.

Atrium (Ages 3- 1st grade)
Our Atrium program for children ages 3 to 1st grade meets on Sundays, September through May, at 10:00 a.m. Atrium is a Montessori based curriculum called Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Through presentations from our trained leaders, our children explore their own relationship with God and learn hands on about the traditions, liturgies, and sacraments of the church. They join us in church at Communion time.

Elementary Formation (Grades 2-5)
Children in grades 2nd -5th  meet in our Elementary Formation classroom starting at 10am every Sunday morning from September to May. Led by a group of trained volunteers, we explore the stories of the bible using the Episcopal Lesson Plans That Work or our own Saving Wisdom curriculum. Children join their parents in time for Communion.

Youth Group (Middle and High School)
Our Middle and High School age youth meet on the second and third Sunday mornings of each month from September to May. This takes place after church until 12:30 pm. in the room located above the church offices. Additionally, they meet once a month for fellowship or service projects. Check the St Mary's general calendar for those events.
