The Love That is God-An Invitation to Christian Faith | September 21, 28 and October 5 at 7pm

7:00 P.M. In-person in Grauer Lounge

Join us this fall for a rich exploration of the Christian faith, as we reflect on Frederick Christian Bauerschmidt’s lovely work The Love That Is God.  This time of reflection is ideal for people who are deepening their faith and for those (re)discovering faith.

We will begin with a shared reading of a brief homily (on which the book is based) and then consider the book’s chapters, which are expanded reflections on the core movements of the homily.

Participants may read at their own pace or comfort level or come simply for the discussion.

Please note that this gathering is in-person, not online. Other online formation events will be offered in the future. Books may be purchased from the church office by request. Bring a snack or dessert to share. Sign up using by clicking here

From the book…….“GOD IS LOVE is the radical claim of Christianity,” writes Frederick Bauerschmidt at the beginning of this little meditation on the essentials of Christian faith. In a rich yet accessible style reminiscent of C. S. Lewis and G.K. Chesterton, Bauerschmidt breathes life back into that claim, drawing from Scripture, great Christian and non-Christian writers of the past and his own experience to show just how countercultural and subversive Christianity is meant to be. Eschewing the abstract and dogmatic in favor of the relational and inviting, he offers something for everyone, from lifelong churchgoers and students of religion to the growing population of “nones” among younger generations who are increasingly seeking spiritual fulfillment outside of institutional Christianity. The Love That Is God is the perfect starting point of a spiritual journey into deeper relationship with God.
